The Tenino girls soccer team was held scoreless through 17 minutes in Hoquiam on Tuesday, but that didn’t stop the Beavers from quickly pulling away for a dominant 7-0 victory over the Grizzlies.

Tenino scored six times in the final 22 minutes of the first half, including two goals in the 39th minute alone, before adding a seventh in the second half.

Callie Mickelson finished with a hat trick and two assists, while Rayanna Mustoe scored twice to secure a brace.

Kylie Gonia and Mikeala Cutlip also found the back of the net, and Gonia also earned an assist. Kyla Watson tallied two assists, and both Charley Jones and Elizabeth Duarte logged an assist apiece.

By the end of the game, the Beavers had outshot the Grizzlies 36-0.

“I thought that the girls understood what the gameplan was, and they went out and executed well,” Tenino coach Trevor Fetbrandt said.

Fetbrandt commended both Zoey Kujawa and Ally Russell, two freshman defenders, saying it was good to rotate them in and get them up to speed at the varsity level.

Tenino (8-1-1, 2-0 1A Evergreen) is now unbeaten in its last seven games, winning six and drawing one. The Beavers will look to extend that streak in Elma on Thursday.
