The Centralia boys tennis team picked up another win on Wednesday, sweeping the doubles matches to top Tumwater 4-2 and remain unbeaten.
Centralia coach Keith Hopkins said that the Tigers shifted to a “doubles-heavy” lineup, a move that paid off.
The duos of Zander Corwin and Sylvester Stehr, Bobby Simpson and Jonathon Robbins, and Samuel Parkin and Charlie Haywood each won their doubles matches.
The third doubles match involving Parkin and Haywood was the match of the night. Their “epic” matchup with Tumwater’s Harrison Chang and Josh VanGorkum went three sets, with two of the sets needing tiebreakers. Parkin and Haywood eventually pulled off the 7-6 (7-5), 5-7, 7-6 (7-4) victory.
Charlie Stratton picked up a singles win for Centralia, while Tumwater’s Thomas Williams and Zach Crumley earned Tumwater’s two victories in the second and third singles matches.
Centralia will look to extend its winning streak at W.F. West on Friday, the same afternoon that Tumwater will host Aberdeen.
