Two of the area’s biggest stars continued their quest for state hardware with some bragging rights amongst their C2BL competition.
Conner Hill of Toledo and Komaire Robles from Rainier both pocketed their second consecutive individual league title on Thursday afternoon in Onalaska. Hill’s time was 16 minutes, 8 seconds while Robles navigated the 5,000-meter course in 20:39-flat.
The girls team race has been a year-long battle between Rainier and Toledo. Thanks to the pack running of Kinsley Barlow (ninth), Ruby King (11th) and Rylee Wilson (12th), the Mountaineers clipped the Riverhawks 30-39 for the team title. Alexis Myers placed third for Rainier.
Toledo’s Katie Hill was the runner-up while Aspen Cooper and Braelyn Nyberg placed fifth and eighth, respectively. Adna had two runners in the top-10 in Chloe Gelvin (fourth) and Iris Baliff (sixth) while Onalaska’s Tia Henderson ran one of the few PRs in the girls race, 23:20 to take seventh.
Mossyrock had three in the top-15, paced by a 10th place finish from Ella Nolan. White Pass’ Cyndal Berryman was 24th and Winlock’s Bianca Franculli placed 26th.
It was a close team finish on the boys side, too. Adna had all its scoring five in the top-15 to edge out Rainier and Winlock. Colton Rind (seventh), Seth Pearson (ninth) and Kaden Hartley (15th) all ran new lifetime bests to aid the Pirates.
Winlock’s Jacob Trodahl ran 18:09, a new PR, to place fifth while Rainier’s trio of Ryan Barela, Shane Parker and Brando Gallardo Mendoza all ran new PRs and crossed the finish line in the top-12.
Some other high finishers from the area were Mossyrock’s Rory Woods (10th), Napavine’s Landon Engelbertson (21st), Onalaska’s Bradley Poppe (30th) and White Pass’ Westyn Huntley (47th).
