Black Hills picked up its first victory of the season on Wednesday, topping Centralia 8-5 on its home diamond.
The Wolves and Tigers traded blows early, as Centralia responded to Black Hills’s three-run first with a three-run second to tie the game at three after two.
The Tigers briefly took a 4-3 lead in the third thanks to a sacrifice fly from Ava Horst, but Tyler Venable hit an RBI single to tie the game, and Taryn Kelly later hit a two-run single to put Black Hills ahead 6-4 after three.
An RBI double from Hannah O’Shurak in the fourth and an RBI groundout from Haley McMahon in the fifth added insurance for O’Shurak in the circle, who settled in nicely after the second.
She ended up pitching all seven innings, allowing 10 hits and five runs while walking just two while striking out 10.
Venable and Lily Shipe picked up three hits, drove in two runs, and scored twice, and Makenna Oderman also collected three hits and scored twice. O’Shurak added two hits and drove in a run, and McMahon and Kelly both picked up an RBI.
Adrianne Lynch picked up three hits, scored twice, and drove in a run to lead the Centralia offense while MadDog Rothduestch added two hits, including a triple, and also drove in a run.
Five other Tigers picked up hits, and Horst, Jaden Johnson, and Brooklyn Sprague also drove in a run.
Both teams are at home on Friday. Centralia (5-7, 2-6 2A EvCo) will host W.F. West, while Black Hills (1-10, 1-7 2A EvCo) will host Tumwater.
