Capital boys tennis falls to Silas in nail-biter

The Capital boys tennis team dropped a close match at home against Silas on Tuesday, Oct. 6, falling 3-2.

Capital sought a sweep in doubles matches after Torin Biswas and Brooks Bezanson won in first doubles 6-3, 4-6, 6-2, and Nicky Iannuccilli and Trevor Nichols prevailed in third doubles 6-4, 7-5. In second doubles, with the match tied at 2-2, Capital’s Logan Oestreich and Stephen Belgan battled Silas’ Quinn Hitz and Minh Nguyen but came up just short 1-6, 7-6, 5-7. 

Capital’s Camden Marshall fell in first singles 0-6, 1-6, and Eli Horton was defeated in second singles 2-6, 0-6. 



“We came out and competed. Every one of our varsity players played JV last year, and they are impressing me with their passion and competitive spirit,” Capital head coach Tom Alongi said. “We may have lost the team match, but there are a lot of wins with our guys. We are proud of them.”

Capital hosts Bellarmine on Thursday, Oct. 8 in the fifth of seven consecutive home matches.
