Kinsley Phillips nets career-high 4 goals in River Ridge’s shutout of Lincoln

It’s Kinsley Phillips’ world, and it appears we’re all just living in it.

The River Ridge girls soccer star freshman poured in a career-best four goals against Lincoln on Thursday, Oct. 9, and it only took her 28 minutes to do it as the Hawks shut out the Abes 7-0.

Phillips scored twice in the first nine minutes, with Emily Schelling picking up an assist on the second make. A Reese Hanna penalty kick in the 13th minute preceded two more Phillips goals in the 17th and 28th minutes. Schelling and Morgan Lokos assisted those goals.

In the 31st minute, Koi Maynard added a sixth goal to the scoreboard in the first half, and Avaiyah Reed tallied goal No. 7 in minute 55.

Phillips is now up to 12 goals in 11 games. Her outburst helped stop a recent offensive slump for the Hawks, who had been kept out of the net for their previous two games.

“Our goal for the night was to possess, pass and present to the ball. This allowed us to move the ball across the field and locate Kinsley,” River Ridge head coach Duwan Tyson said. “If we can get her the ball within 20 yards of the goal, she will find the back of the net. A true striker.”

River Ridge (4-3-4, 2-3-1 Puget Sound League) will host Central Kitsap on Tuesday, Oct. 13 at South Sound Stadium.
