Nearly two weeks after a 5-0 loss to the Gators, the Northwest Christian boys tennis team pulled out a 3-2 victory at home against short-handed Annie Wright on Monday, Oct. 5.
The match came down to third-set tiebreakers in first and third doubles. Seth Miller and Grant Bouwman of Northwest Christian outlasted Annie Wright’s top doubles team 7-5, 2-6 (10-7), while Noah Vaughan and Jace Beck won a marathon in third doubles 6-2, 1-6 (10-4).
Northwest Christian’s Oliver Hayward rolled to a 6-1, 6-1 win in first singles. Jacky Ye fell in second singles 3-6, 2-6, and Addai Beck and Judah Egrubay lost in second doubles 3-6, 2-6.
Annie Wright sat out two of its top players, according to Northwest Christian head coach Kevin Hayward, who added that that “definitely leveled the playing field after the last match.”
Northwest Christian gets a week off from competition and will face River Ridge on Monday, Oct. 12.
