Northwest Christian sophomore quarterback Sully Snyder put the team on his back, totaling five total touchdowns and 217 total yards in a 47-0 pummeling of Quilcene on Thursday, Oct. 8 in Tenino.

The Wolverines’ offense was hot early, but before they could take the field, Jadon Dillingham returned the opening kickoff 70 yards for a touchdown. Northwest Christian finished with 20 points in the first quarter and another 21 in the second quarter.

Snyder scored three touchdowns on the ground to go along with 123 rushing yards, and he threw for two more scores and 94 passing yards.

“I thought we put together our best overall performance of the season in all three phases of the game,” Northwest Christian head coach Chris Pontius said. “The defense was extremely aggressive and stingy tonight with their play. I thought the play up front set the tone, and our linebackers were able to come up and play downhill.”

John Xu recorded three sacks and a tackle for loss on defense, while Luke Nickel, Easton Payment and Ronnie Vahey each tallied a tackle for loss. Brandon Monzon also recovered a fumble.

Pontius also highlighted the offensive line, which gave Snyder plenty of time to find Koa Paresa, who caught four passes for 69 yards and a touchdown, and Nickel, who grabbed two for 25 yards and a score. Nickel also rushed for 22 yards and a touchdown.

“Koa has been downright dominant the last two games and is continuing to show why we think he’s an all-league tight end,” Pontius said. “Luke ran the ball hard and helped set the tone for us tonight.”

The Wolverines (3-2, 1-1 Sea-Tac League) played just five days prior to its matchup with Quilcene, as they lost to Concrete 38-29 on Saturday, Oct. 3. They’ll get an extra day of practice to prepare for Neah Bay, which comes to Beaver Stadium on Friday, Oct. 16.

“I’m so proud of our kids and coaches for the work they put in this week. What a great bounceback performance after a tough loss last week,” Pontius said. “Now we have a tough one next Friday against Neah Bay. Obviously, we have our work cut out for us, but we are looking forward to the challenge.”
