River Ridge girls swimming uses depth to defeat Lakes

The River Ridge girls swim team beat Lakes 93-86 in Lakewood on Thursday, Oct. 8 behind strong performances from Rosalie Ponce and Arizona Fouts, among others.

Ponce won the 100-yard butterfly with a new personal record of 1:37.51, crossing the finish line 13 seconds before the runner-up. She also took first in the 100-yard backstroke with a PR of 1:29.56 in a tightly contested race. 

Fouts earned first place and a PR in the 100-yard freestyle at 1:10.07 and was the runner-up in the 50-yard freestyle at 32.18 seconds. 



Ruby Ripp dominated in the 500-yard freestyle at 7:47.09. River Ridge’s 200-yard freestyle relay took first in the 200-yard freestyle relay at 2:18.12, and the Hawks’ 400-yard freestyle relay team triumphed at 5:18.14. 

Madison Smith ranked second in both the 200-yard freestyle (3:00.75), the 500-yard freestyle (8:27.67), and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:37.52). 

River Ridge’s next meet is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 13 at home against Capital.
